Dodson & Horrell 1.05m and 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds at Chard Equestrian

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at Chard Equestrian in Crewkerne, Somerset saw thirty-four accomplished combinations coming forward to compete across the 1.05m and 1.10m classes.

With qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 16th – 20th November in each of the riders sights, these two second rounds proved to be fiercely contested.

Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round

As part of the starting line-up of twenty-two keen competitors, Oliver Davies from Newport, Gwent delivered a speedy first round on board his own 14 year-old bay gelding Rathturtin to make his way through to the jump off. Using his place as penultimate rider in the fifteen strong jump off to full effect, this partnership went on to produce another scorching clear round in 33.34 seconds for first place.

Second place was scooped up by Amber Owen from Chippenham, Wiltshire as she rode her own 12 year-old grey gelding, Tullykyne Boy, to a fabulous double clear in 34.94 seconds.

Ella Matravers from Honiton, Devon jumped into third place on board her own 9 year-old bay gelding Bugway Mister Darcie. This pair left all the fences standing to chalk up a double clear in 35.16 seconds.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round

Among a skilled starting field of twelve competitors, Tina Guppy from Taunton, Somerset was one of the six competitors to make it through to the jump off and she shot into first place as she produced a unbeatable clear on board Conte K, her own 10 year-old bay gelding. As one of only two combinations to leave all the fences standing, this pair crossed the finish line in 43.56 seconds.

Taking second place was Tessa Elliott from Kilgetty, Dyfed and she rode her own 8 year-old chestnut gelding Quidam MZ to a double clear in 47.15 seconds.

Lucy Pinney from Dorchester, Dorset took home third place on board her own 9 year-old chestnut mare Hillviewfarm Utopia. This pair produced a lightening round in 38.21 seconds but with a pole down in the middle of the course, they were left with an unlucky 4 faults.
