Dodson & Horrell 1.05m and 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre in Slapton, Buckinghamshire saw fifty-six accomplished combinations coming forward to compete across the 1.05m and 1.10m classes.

With qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 19th November in each of the riders sights, these two second rounds proved to be fiercely contested.

Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round

As part of the starting line-up of twenty-nine keen competitors, 18 year-old Lauren Hopes from Finchampstead, Berkshire delivered a solid first round on board Moira Hopes’ 7 year-old grey mare Falou to make her way through to the jump off. In the sixteen horse jump-off, this combination picked up the pace to produce a scorching clear round in 39.33 seconds for first place.

Second place was scooped up by Natasha Seelu from Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire as she rode her own 12 year-old bay gelding, Alpino R, to a fabulous double clear in 40.15 seconds.

Alice Warden from Tamworth, Staffordshire jumped in to third place riding her own 13 year-old bay gelding Donaldo. This pair left all the fences standing to chalk up a double clear in 40.65 seconds.

7th Lucy Hubbard & Global Star II – 0/0 – 44.39 seconds

8th Peter Evans & Man Overboard – 0/4 – 42.49 seconds

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round

Among a skilled starting field of twenty-seven competitors, Laura Whittington from Evesham, Worcestershire was one of the eleven competitors to make it through to the jump off and she shot into first place as she produced a unbeatable clear on board Hayestown Diamond Lady, her own 10 year-old chestnut mare. This pair put in a strong performance to cross the finish line in an unbeatable time of 32.42 seconds.

Taking second place was Isabella Litchfield Gomes from Welwyn, Hertfordshire and she rode Nina Gomes’ 10 year-old grey roan mare, Roulette VI to a double clear in 36.79 seconds.

Jacqueline Menzies from Horsham, West Sussex took home third place on board her own 15 year-old grey gelding, Sultan V. This pair stopped the clock on a double clear in 39.43 seconds.
