Dodson & Horrell 0.95m and 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds at SouthView Equestrian Centre

Last weekend’s Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds took place at SouthView Equestrian Centre in Wettenhall, Cheshire and the classes drew eighty-three keen competitors to compete across the 0.95m and 1.10m Second Rounds.

Qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 19th November, was in everyone’s sights.

Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round

Lesley Mitton from Knutsford, Cheshire stormed into first place with her 12 year-old bay mare, Heart of Savannah. In a strong class where eleven talented combinations made it through to the jump off, Lesley and Heart of Savannah picked up the pace to deliver an unbeatable double clear in 34.65 seconds.

Securing second place was Billie Hall from Telford, Shropshire on board Handels Danny Boy, a 6 year-old bay gelding owned by Stacey Hancock. This pair put forward a strong challenge to cross the finish with all fences standing in 36.17 seconds.

Georgina Beeson from Stafford took third place on board Barbara Beeson’s 11 year-old bay mare, Jazzy Footwork. This partnership finished with a double clear in 36.79 seconds.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round

Following a nail biting nine horse jump off, Levi Critchlow from Ormskirk, Lancashire took his place at the top of the leader board on his own 7 year-old chestnut gelding, Valarico. This partnership added to their clean performance in the first round and flew through the finish with a double clear in 33.41 seconds.

Coming in a close second was Katie Shaw from Stafford on board Emma Sargeant’s 16 year-old roan gelding, Fools Business. This combination delivered a double clear in 33.87 seconds.

Making the journey from Welshpool, Powys was Ceri Chapman who scooped third place on her own 11 year-old bay mare, Dellrose Rosie. This pair stopped the clock on a double clear in 34.11 seconds.
