Dodson & Horrell 0.95m and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds at Wellington Riding Centre

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at Wellington Riding Centre in Hampshire drew a generous number of talented competitors with sixty-one combinations coming forward to compete across the 0.95m and 1.05m Second Rounds.

With qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 16th – 20th November, every riders goal, two intense classes played out.

Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round

From a twenty-one strong field in the jump off, it was Isobelle Bradley from Shrewsbury, Shropshire who took victory on board her own 18 year-old bay mare, Renaissance III. Jumping from late draw, Isobelle really put her foot down to produce a truly unbeatable double clear in 32.80 seconds.

Coming home second was Victoria Jenner who travelled from Cirencester, Gloucestershire with her own 17 year-old brown gelding, Euromagic. This partnership were able to produce their double clear in 34.69 seconds.

Skye Neal from Sherborne, Dorset scooped third place riding Tracy Neal’s 14 year-old bay gelding, Dimitar Berbie. Drawn as the penultimate combination to go, this pair posted a double clear in 37.01 seconds.

Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round

A starting field of twenty-seven keen horses and their riders were quickly whittled down to seventeen for the jump off, where tensions were running high.

Doing an exceptional job of holding her nerve was Bedfordshire’s Kelly Attwood, who was able to steer her mother’s 10 year-old bay gelding, Cillians Lux straight into the lead by posting a blistering double clear in 38.59 seconds.

Drawn first to go, Richard Baker from Horsham, West Sussex was able to put in a clean performance on board Samantha Baker’s 15 year-old brown mare, Queen. Posting a double clear, this partnership finished up in 40.21 seconds.

Third place was snapped up by Sydni Evans from Beckenham, Kent and her 9 year-old bay mare, Madeira. This pair crossed the finish line on a double clear in 42.62 seconds.
