Dodson & Horrell 0.85m and 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds at Parwood Equestrian Centre

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at Parwood Equestrian Centre in Surrey attracted a field of forty-five talented riders and their trusted steeds from far and wide and they all came to compete in the 0.85m and 1.10m Second Rounds.

With qualifying for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between the 16th – 20th November, the aim, each and every rider was focused on gaining one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer in each class.

Dodson & Horrell 0.85m National Amateur Second Round

Producing one of the fastest first round clears was 14 year-old Eleanor Vickery from Basingstoke, Hampshire and she took her place in the fourteen horse jump off on board 20 year-old brown gelding, Findas Keepas V, owned by Kevin Sleap. As the penultimate rider to go in that crucial jump off, Eleanor planned her round to perfection, pulling off a double clear in a scorching 32.79 seconds for the win.

Second place went to Anna De Verteuil from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire after she gave a consistent performance with Victoria Morton’s 10 year-old bay gelding, Talento. This pair crossed the finish line with their double clear in 35.29 seconds.

Shelley Anthony from Maidstone, Kent snapped up third place with her 13 year-old bay mare Wirania. This combination achieved a double clear in 35.56 seconds.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round

Taking on a small but highly competitive jump off of five riders, 16 year-old Eleanor Barnwell from Petworth, West Sussex gave a determined performance on board Sarah Barnwell’s 8 year-old chestnut mare, Billy Crisp. From second draw, this pair went on to cross the finish line in first place with a truly unbeatable double clear in 40.59 seconds.

Second place was scooped up by Nadine Mulgrew from Horley, Surrey on her 13 year-old bay gelding Lismoyle Simba. This pair produced an accurate double clear in 47.02 seconds.

Natasha Hawkins from Aylesford, Kent rode into third place on board Guhne Van Het Keizershof, a 10 year-old bay mare owned by Kits Coty Stud. After having an unfortunate pole at the penultimate fence, this pair came home with 4 faults in 43.28 seconds.
