It only takes one mistake
As part of UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) Clean Sport Week 2018 - a campaign to raise awareness to ensure clean sport for all in the UK, the BGA is urging all grooms and riders to familiarise themselves with antidoping and take part in Groom Clean.
Groom Clean is an interactive e-learning course to give candidates an understanding of the importance of anti-doping and controlled medication in equestrian sports. The course, which is sponsored by SPILLERS is endorsed by the British Equestrian Federation, British Dressage, British Eventing and British Showjumping is available to help educate all within the industry.
Chief Executive of the BGA, Lucy Katan says, “With increased focus on keeping clean in equestrian sport we are urging all competitors to put their team through Groom Clean to help protect their career. The e-learning course will give you a good understanding of how to avoid an anti-doping rule violation, something every competition groom and rider should know.”
Team GBR dressage super groom Alan Davies, who works for Charlotte Dujardin says, “The BGA’s Groom Clean is an invaluable tool for all grooms. It is interesting and informative and covers all of the topics in a clear and concise manner. Clean sport is a very serious topic so it is very important that grooms have access to this information. We have to be aware of so many regulations and also to be aware of how our horses can be affected in many different situations.”
