British Showjumping Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE)(BS) Study Programme September 2018 Launch - Applications are now open.

Monday 09 July 2018

Haddon Training Ltd, in conjunction with British Showjumping, are proud to offer a brand new Diploma in Sporting Excellence Study programme (DiSE)(BS). This programme is designed to give young people, who have left school and are under 19 years, the opportunity to work towards nationally recognised qualifications as well as gain invaluable coaching, mentoring and work experience in a relevant and inspiring environment. The learner will benefit from a comprehensive training and support programme delivered by Showjumping’s top coaches and experts.

The new DiSE (BS) programme is an alternative to the legal requirement of staying in education instead of formerly going onto Further Education or Sixth Form. Learners can choose this as their mandatory education, which is delivered in a relevant and inspiring environment, and benefit from training with Showjumping’s top coaches. Selected talented riders will be stretched and challenged to improve their skills and how to manage all aspects of life to become top performing riders. Successful candidates are expected to work-hard and demonstrate a commitment through-out the two year programme.

Our previous Advance Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme was hugely successful in developing and preparing talented young athletes:

  • 4 AASE learners are now on the Podium Potential World Class Squad:
    • Emma O’Dwyer
    • Millie Allen
    • Jake Saywell Jake represented GB in the Nanjing Youth Olympics 2014
    • Jessica Mendoza. Jess was Travelling Reserve for the Rio 2016 Olympic Team
  • 10 learners represented Team GBR at European Championships for British Showjumping and 2 for British Eventing.
  • 5 additional learners have represented Team GBR at Nations Cup series.

‘I chose to do the AASE programme for extra qualifications. I enjoyed spending time with John Killingbeck, he has a wealth of knowledge and I feel now I have a good understanding of horse management and the professionalism of our sport. I would recommend the AASE course to others, the chance to ride and learn from top horsemen and women is a great experience for anyone wanting success in the Equine Industry.’  Jake Saywell. AASE Alumni

‘I decided to apply for this programme as I was looking for a qualification to support my riding – the course covered all of the areas of Showjumping that would help me start a career in the sport. I’m very proud to have been selected to represent East Midlands for the u18 national championships at Frickley, and I hope to spend the rest of the season preparing for Young Rider Trials. Annabel Carthy. AASE Alumni

‘Since completing the programme, I have competed in many Grand Prix’s across the UK. I have become much more competitive and feel more comfortable when under pressure.’ Leo Lamb. AASE Alumni

‘I would recommend the course not only to receive top training and knowledge from industry experts, but to receive a qualification from it too. I’m currently a Showjumping scholar, studying Equine Business Management.’ Abbie Summers. AASE Alumni

The DiSE (BS) programme is an instrumental route within the Talent Pathway training for producing the next top performing riders in Showjumping. Learners will attend high-performing camps covering practical and theoretical teaching, where they will develop the skills and knowledge required to be an elite athlete. You will achieve a variety of nationally recognised qualifications, as well as valuable work experience where you can apply your knowledge and skills.
