BEF Vacancies: Members for Case Management Group for Safeguarding

The British Equestrian Federation (“BEF”), the national governing body for equestrian sports, and its member bodies are committed to a programme of continuous improvement in the management of safeguarding issues in equestrian sport. The BEF met the Advanced Safeguarding Standard of the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) in 2011 and has continued to work with the CPSU to develop and embed practices and procedures, with an iterative process of defined action plans.
The BEF is now redesigning and refreshing its Case Management Group (“CMG”) and is looking for members with appropriate expertise to sit on the Group and to form a pool of experts on whose expertise it and its member bodies can draw in individual safeguarding cases.
CMG Member Duties
- To provide a group of experts from which Case Management Panels can be appointed to advise, investigate, inquire into and report on safeguarding cases referred to the Group.
- To provide specific advice or guidance on request to the BEF or to any of its member bodies in relation to safeguarding issues.
- To support the BEF in sharing and developing best practice or new initiatives relevant to safeguarding, attending a group meeting of the CMG at least once a year.
We are looking for members with current knowledge of safeguarding management and with specific skills in at least one of the following areas:
- Investigation
- Education
- Risk Assessment
- Children’s Services
- Legal
- Sport
- Voluntary/charity organisations
Members appointed to a Panel in relation to a safeguarding case or providing specific advice or guidance to the BEF or any of its member bodies in relation to safeguarding issues will be remunerated at a standard rate, currently £35 per hour, and reimbursed in accordance with the BEF expenses policy in respect of expenses incurred.
Reasonable expenses of members of the CMG incurred to attend meetings to support the BEF in sharing and developing best practice or new initiatives relevant to safeguarding will be reimbursed by the BEF in accordance with its expenses policy.
