Annabel Shields Collects a Win in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Waterford Equestrian Centre

With the blue sky peeping through the clouds over Waterford Equestrian Centre in Durham, Annabel Shields shot to victory in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round and secured her place in August’s Championship Final.

As the class provided one of the last qualification opportunities of the season, the tension was high with all twenty-six competitors eager to begin their campaign. As the rounds passed, poles fell, leaving only eight determined combinations to fight for their treble clear in the final jump off.

Using her final draw to the maximum, Annabel from Crook, Durham rode Robert Shields’ chestnut mare, Gerona straight into first place. Easing the 5 year-old smoothly round the shortened course, Annabel crossed the finish line on her treble clear in 43.65 seconds.

Second place was secured by Alex Moorhouse from Stockton-On-Tees, Cleveland riding the 6 year-old bay mare, Diamond Chip, owned by Leslie Moorhouse. This pair left all the fences standing on their treble clear in 45.00 seconds.

Third place was scooped up by Mandy Gray from Leeds, West Yorkshire on board her own 7 year-old bay gelding, R Mickey Me. This pair posted their third clear round in 50.00 seconds.

With another combination also achieving a treble clear, a total of four combinations now go forward to the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final.
