Addington Manor Equestrian Centre Host an EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round

A key class of the Summer Classic Show at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre in Buckingham was the EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round held on Saturday 19th July 2014. The class proved to be as popular as ever and was contested by one hundred and seven combinations.

Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show and each competitor was hoping to take one of these tickets as their own.

Just five of the one hundred and seven starters went on to produce the two clear rounds needed to make it through into the final jump off. In the jump off itself, four combinations went on to secure a treble clear, which meant that the clock was crucial in deciding the order of results and the allocation of the qualification places.

Tim Stockdale from Roade, Northamptonshire took victory in this second round on Secret Prince, an 8 year-old bay gelding owned by Laura Stockdale. Tim was drawn last to go in the jump off and with three treble clears having been produced before him, he knew that he also needed to secure a treble clear and that he needed to do so in a quick time. The combination not only produced a careful round to go clear, but they did so in a very quick time of 36.75 seconds to take the win with just over a second to spare.

Second place went to Mennell Watson from Solihull, West Midlands on the 8 year-old bay stallion Whisper In The Wind owned by Euro Sport Horse. This combination secured their treble clear in a time of 38.10 seconds.

The first two horse and rider combinations, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. The first five, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival. Horses and riders that jump a treble clear also qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.
