50 Day Countdown to the Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show

WITH just 50 days to go until this year’s Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show the final countdown is well and truly on.

With a feast of world class showjumping and dressage, the North’s iconic equestrian event will bring together the very best British riders including Carl Hester, Charlotte Dujardin and the Whitaker’s; it’s a family entertainment galore there’s no better place to be this summer!

Held in the stunning setting of Bolesworth Castle, the show runs June 12 to 16 and includes a packed line-up of competition featuring many of the leading riders from home and abroad.

The show gets underway on Wednesday 12th with five, six and seven-year-old Young Dressage Horse Viewing Trials as well as an Advanced Medium class, Big Tour Grand Prix and Small Tour Inter 1 Freestyle Dressage to Music.

Following the popularity over the last two years Carl Hester is back and has teamed up with renowned dressage rider, trainer and FEI 4* Judge, Peter Storr for the 2019 dressage demonstration.

This well-known duo will bring to spectators a fascinating showcase titled - ‘80% Is The New 70%’ – Through The Eyes Of The Judges – in the International Arena at 7pm.

Showjumping gets underway in the Castle Arena with four, five and six-year-old age classes and national classes look set to prove as popular as ever in the Lake Arena.

Dressage continues to be the focus on the Thursday as the big guns take centre stage in the Prix St Georges and Grand Prix Freestyle.

This year’s show will once again host the exciting Cazenove Capital Eventing Grand Prix featuring top names such as the ever popular Alex Hua Tian. Taking place during the evening performance on the Thursday, this exciting feature class will be a fast and furious competition and provides great entertainment for ringside spectators.

And as part of a new innovation, the top five placed riders in the class will qualify to compete in the final leg at the Theraplate UK Liverpool International Horse Show in December. A second qualifying leg will run at the Bolesworth Young Horse Championship Show in August.

This high calibre invitational spectacle will see 20 leading event riders tackle a course of showjumps and feature cross-country fences, against the clock in the International Arena.

On Friday, June 14 competition includes the heart-stopping Equitop GLME Puissance, Arena Polo and the ground-breaking Bolesworth Elite Auction, followed by a Celebrity DJ in Club Boles.

Champagne, cocktails, luxury shopping, and high class hospitality, meet fantastic family entertainment, World class sport and a brilliant line up of evening entertainment with extensive facilities to camp onsite if you would like to extend your stay, so why not take advantage of this fantastic opportunity.

For 2019, the event will once again host the glamorous and ever popular ‘Ladies Day’ supported by Lord & Lady Equestrian on the Saturday! Throughout the day, ladies in hospitality have the chance to impress a celebrity judge panel to be awarded ‘The Equerry Bolesworth International’s Best Dressed’ with a dazzling awards ceremony in the International Arena.

Ladies Day is full of exciting entertainment in Boleworth’s iconic International Arena including CSI 4* Showjumping, a polo demonstration and the exhilarating Ride & Drive featuring celebrity drivers, top riders and one fast car!

Sunday is Equerry Grand Prix day and always provides a fantastic finale to the show with the fences growing ever higher.

Last year’s winner Paul Kennedy led an Irish grand prix one-two as the class reached a thrilling conclusion.

Paul, who is based in nearby Shropshire, captured the £30,000 Equerry Grand Prix top prize aboard 12-year-old Cartown Danger Mouse to deny his countryman Billy Twomey and Kimba Flamenco victory by just nine hundredths of a second.
