 Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Badgworth Arena Show

Badgworth Arena Show in Ayrbridge, Somerset played host to two of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds on Sunday 14th October 2012. The venue held a 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round and a 1.10m National Amateur Second round.
 
Following a competitive season of first round competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which takes place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012 and all of the starting combinations were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Championships. 
 
Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round. 
The 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round attracted 24 starting combinations and they all began their qualifying campaign for the Championship Final. From the starting combinations, 18 made it through to the jump off and with only 12 qualifying places up for grabs; all of the remaining combinations were hoping to achieve a double clear against the clock.
 
The overall winner was 53-year-old Mark Bennett from Stroud, Gloucestershire and he produced a superb double clear to secure the win on board his own Marnie of Rossin, a 10-year-old brown mare. Mark rode a fast double clear to secure the win in a time of 31.09 seconds.
 
Finishing in second place was 41-year-old Kirstie Davey from Pontyclun, Mid Glamorgan and she achieved her place on board her own nine-year-old bay mare, Miss Dior Line II. The combination achieved their second clear in a time of 31.25 seconds to ensure that they finished in second place. 
 
Third place went to 14-year-old Tillie Newman from Dorset. Tillie rode Kernow Karma, a six-year-old chestnut gelding owned by Helen Newman and the combination produced their second clear in a time of 31.69 seconds. 
 
A further nine riders also produced an immaculate double clear, achieving their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final.

12th Pippa Tucker riding Princess Fiona – 0/0 – 37.00 seconds
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round. 
The 1.10m National Amateur Second Round proved popular, attracting 21 starters and after the first round of showjumping, there were eight eligible combinations still in contention for the win.
 
The overall winner of the class was Bina Ford from Shepton Mallet, Somerset and she rode her own 11-year-old bay gelding, Teatime III, to victory and into the Championship Final. The combination cleared the seven fence jump off course in a time of only 33.56 seconds to ensure that first place was theirs.
 
In second place was Pierre Baber from Kingswood, South Gloucestershire. Pierre rode an immaculate double clear on board Ulysses W, his own 11-year-old bay gelding. The combination completed the jump off course in a time of only 33.87 seconds to ensure a top two finish. 
 
Third place was filled by 31-year-old Mackenzie Sanders from Wanborough, Swindon. Mackenzie rode her double clear on board her own ten-year-old dark brown gelding, Vampire III. Their double clear was achieved in a time of 34.25 seconds and this gave the combination seven seconds in hand over fourth place. 
 
A further five riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur & Veteran Championships 2012 take place from the 15th November – 18th November 2012 at Aintree International Equestrian Centre.
