Allington CSI 2* - Day Two

A winner in the medium tour on day one on Lavarno, Joe Whitaker eased the nine-year-old mare into victory in the big tour 1.40m on day two.

The Locarno daughter is a full sister to Joe’s top ride Lola V and was bred at home by his father Steven.

"She is just coming into her own, at the last couple of shows she won in Fontainbleau and was second in Bethune, she’s careful and competitive,” said Joe.

Emma Stoker used her late draw to take second on Bob Young’s Townhead Tallulah V with Louise Whitaker taking third on Di Lampard and Dietmar Ackermann’s Ruby VIII – another rhomebred by Balou Du Rouet.  Michael Whitaker with Jane Bean’s JB’s Hot Property took fourth in the closely contested class, and Louise Saywell took fifth on the stallion Mr Darcy.

Joe almost scored a double – but not quite.  His long-time lead on Shearwater Upanda was cut short by late-to-go Holly Gillott who wiped almost a sec off the time on Jane Heerbeck’s Indoctro gelding Carolus K DHI.

“He’s getting a lot quicker in the jump-off,” said Holly on the nine-year-old former eventer.

Alex Hempleman steered Billy Dineiro into third and Michael Whitaker rode a smooth round to take fourth on Abnormaal.  Max Routledge took fifth on Old Lodge’s Haifa OL with Ellen Whitaker in sixth on Arena UK proprietor Norman Oley’s Arena UK Winston.

In the small tour 1.30m, David Murdoch went one better than yesterday’s second place, posting the winning round on Entesar.  He was 2.51 sec ahead of second-placed Yazmin Davies and Zambowa.  Third went to Paul Barker on Sandors Legacy with Julie Andrews on Senator CC Catch in fourth.  Aimee Jones was fifth on Biance BC ahead of Danielle Farnsworth and Cornascriebe Ferro in sixth.

Kathryn Ellison outpaced all her rivals to take the gold tour on Hanleen Sultis -- third on day one -- to win by just a fraction, 0.08 sec.

Day one's winner Ella Popely had to settle for second on this occasion with Little Luidam.  Hannah Hughes and Tekila Sun Belin took fourth with Kathryn also in fifth on Cherokee Bay.

Michael Fursedonn reversed day one's results on day two in the silver tour.  He eased Foxtrot Van Den Ard, second yesterday, into the top spot with a second to spare over Chelsea Skelton and Tuesday's winner Cheleko GB Z. Ruby Pointer and Dutsy Van Het Hek finished third ahead of Julie Slade, in fourth on Billy Gogo.
