YOUNG RIDERS TAKE FOURTH IN THE NATIONS CUP & GRAND PRIX

The FEI Future Champions event in Hagen, Germany saw the Young Riders hold their own against the eleven Nations contesting the Nations Cup competition.

Chef d’Equipe and Team Coach Corinne Bracken commented afterwards “Both the course and the field of competitors was incredibly strong today and I’m pleased with the way the team went especially when you consider that it was just a time fault that kept us from 3rd position”.

The four-strong team were represented by Abbie Burchmore-Eames who took the role of pathfinder returning just 4faults in each round with her own 9 year-old bay stallion Wilandri E.

Pippa Allen from Stockton-on-Tees and her relatively new ride Charlie K had an unlucky two rounds resulting in 12faults in each with Charlie K

Lucy Guild from Scotland with her own 12 year-old bay gelding Titi D’Oase returned with a fence down in each round and a time fault in the first.

With anchorman Spencer Roe from Lincolnshire riding his mothers 9 year-old gelding Wonder Why producing one of the few clear rounds of the competition in the first round and a fence down in the second.

The Grand Prix saw Lucy Guild and Titi D’Oase take 4th place across an incredibly strong field that saw only four clears in the first round coming forward for a jump off. A mistake which unsettled the combination in the second round saw them come home on a total of 23faults and behind Italy, Netherlands and the USA who took the top three places respectively.

Yesterday saw two of the Children's squad keep the Union Flag in the line up when both Ella Popely from Sussex with Amaryllis van de Heffink and Emily Ward from Cheshire with  Witch 42 took equal first in the Childrens Grand Prix having jumped clear in the first round.  Unfortunately, the terrible weather conditions meant that a decision was made to cancel the jump off and place all clears in the first round in joint first position.
