World Class Showjumpers Head to Bolesworth International

A FEAST of world class showjumping awaits visitors to this year’s Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show.

And the ladies look set to give the men a run for their money across top class action from the Equerry Grand Prix, to Equitop Myoplast Puissance, and Bentley Ride and Drive as they compete for the £300,000 prize fund.

Britain’s Leading Lady Rider, Laura Renwick, a regular competitor at the prestigious venue heads to Cheshire once again and is joined by another major British female star also known for her turn of speed and winning ways, Louise Saywell.

Jessica Springsteen, daughter of rock legend, Bruce is set to return while US based Brit, Amanda Derbyshire heads to Bolesworth International for the first time, having had great success at Liverpool International at the end of last year.

American stars Laura Kraut, Lauren Hough and Eve Jobs, both winners last year, will also be making their way to the Bolesworth Estate.

Not to be outdone and similarly chasing a share of the spoils is former world number one, Ben Maher.   A consistent winner on the lucrative world grand prix circuit and a mainstay of Great Britain Nations Cup teams, he delivers high-class performances time after time.

The 35-year-old has Olympic and European team gold medals in his locker, in addition to the European individual silver he won at Herning, Denmark in 2013.

Long time supporters of Bolesworth International, the Whitaker dynasty is represented by John, son Robert and nephew and cousin William at four star level.

No doubt all will be vying for a place in the Equerry Grand Prix on the Sunday afternoon with a prize fund of €100,000.

Leading British riders, William Funnell and Robert Smith are well known for their major achievements and British team places over the years, and are another two riders who have Bolesworth International as a firm fixture on their seasonal calendar.

When it comes to younger talent Hampshire-based Harry Charles has certainly caught the eye with his natural ability and poise. In recent months he hit the headlines when winning the CSI4* Grand Prix in Vejer de la Frontera.

Recent Derby success stories, Nigel Coupe, winner of the 2017 Hickstead Derby and Matt Sampson, who hit the news when winning the Hamburg Derby in the last few weeks are also making their way to Bolesworth.

The Irish contingent looks set to be as strong as ever with Shane Breen,
Conor Swail and Darragh Kenny being joined by Jos Verlooy of Belgium, a regular on the Global Champions Tour.

William Funnell will be holding a masterclass on Wednesday, June 13 alongside wife and leading event rider, Pippa where visitors will gain invaluable knowledge from both a show jumping and eventing legend at the same time. William’s knowledge of producing international level show jumpers has the highest respect while on the eventing scene Pippa has won every major championship there is. This is definitely an opportunity not to be missed.

Don’t forget party nights in Club Boles with Friday, June 15 hosting an Ibiza Classic evening full of iconic Ibiza anthems.

While Saturday evening, June 16 will see Rick Parfitt Jnr and the RPJ Band set to entertain with a live line-up of rock tunes throughout the evening.

The five day event takes place from June 13 to 17 in the glorious grounds of Bolesworth Castle near Tattenhall, Chester and is set to provide a feast of sport and entertainment with some fantastic dressage stars heading to the stunning venue.

VIP Hospitality experiences are available for all sessions throughout the show, and include access to our luxury ringside marquee, with high end dining included from renowned London caterers Absolute Taste. For more information and to book Hospitality packages, contact melanie@bolesworth.com
