Tri-Zone Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping Scope Festival

The Cusionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival was host to the Tri-Zone Newcomers Masters on Monday, with the last chance to qualify the 2010 Tri-Zone Newcomers Championship to be held at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) in October.
16 year old Mark Turnbull, who is still riding ponies, from Dunfermline, Fife rode his mother’s British bred 16hh 9 year old mare, Ursula XII by Ahorn Completing the jump off clear in a time of 42.35 seconds put him into 1st place. Having already qualified for the HOYS at Ingliston Equestrian Centre the first qualifying ticket went to second placed Laura Renwick. Laura also jumped a double clear in a jump off time of 43.54 seconds on David Perry’s 6 year old bay stallion, Bellagio II.
Third place was taken by the already HOYS qualified Andrew Saywell from Newark, Nottinghamshire riding his own 6 year old bay gelding, Zenith IV. With a clear in the jump off in a time of 44.18 seconds.
The four to qualify for horse of the Year Show were Laura Renwick riding David Perry’s Bellagio, Angela Thompson riding her own Zomeroos, Anthony Condon riding Billy Twomey’s Molly Mallone V and Brian Thompson riding Millfield Stud’s Millfield Lord Luis.
