Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Regional Final at Wales & The West

The Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Regional Final continued with the fifth Regional Final which took place on Sunday 24th June 2012 at the Wales & The West Show in Newport, Monmouthshire. Following a competitive year of qualifying, the Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Regional Final attracted entries from over 20 eligible horse and rider combinations, all hoping to claim their Championship Final qualification. 

 

Riders came from all over the country with the aim of qualifying for the Tri-Zone Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012). 

 

From the 22 starters, 10 combinations made it through to the final jump off after first having to produce two clear rounds during the earlier phases of the competition. 

 

From these 10 combinations, six were able to produce the all important treble clear required for Championship Final qualification and the overall winner of this Regional Final was 19-year-old Rhiannon Gill from Cardiff, South Glamorgan. Rhiannon rode Myles Browning’s gelding, Gazalan, to victory and she brought the horse home clear in a time of 37.49 seconds to secure her place in the Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Championship Final.

 

In second place was 38-year-old Eurig Eynon from Abergavenny, Gwent on board Katherine James’ Forest Van Nachtegalehof. Eurig completed the eight fence jump off course in a time of 47.75 seconds to clinch the second qualifying spot for the Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Championship Final. 

 

The third qualifying spot went to 21-year-old Amelia Rogers from Pontyclun, Mid Glamorgan. Amelia earned her qualification on board Eurig Eynon’s Flight Path II. The combination cleared the jump off in a time of 48.65 seconds to secure third place. 

 

A further three riders also achieved an impressive treble clear to secure their places in the Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Championship Final.

4th Eurig Eynon riding Bacarilla – 0/0/0 – 49.02 seconds

5th Emily Hanlon riding Caprice Z II – 0/0/0 – 52.24 seconds

6th Sophie Gregory riding Zennyfee – 0/0/0 – 55.05 seconds

 

The Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival 2012 will take place from the 26th August – 1st September 2012 at Staffordshire County Showground.
