Trevor Breen does it again in the Addington Manor Talent Seekers inc. 7 Year Old Championship
Wednesday 07 October 2015
Irish rider Trevor Breen reserved the best until last on day one at Horse of the Year Show in Birmingham as he claimed a thrilling win in the prestigious Addington Manor Talent Seekers.
The class, which incorporates the 7 Year Old championship, went to the wire and was ultimately decided by just 13 hundredths of a second.
The performance also maintained Breen's remarkable record in the class, given that he also won it in 2011 with Oldtown KC, and last year on Classic.
Nottinghamshire's Louise Saywell looked to have done enough on Dassler with a clear jump-off round in 32.57 seconds, but last-to-go Breen had other ideas.
Riding Caroline Breen's bay gelding Serpico II, Breen, who is based at Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire, showcased his vast experience to pip Saywell at the post, clocking 32.44 for victory and a winner's purse of just over £1,500.
"I am over the moon," Breen said. "Serpico jumped fantastic for me, and I am thrilled.
"It is fantastic to have a class like this one where young horses can be in this kind of environment."
Sussex rider Nicole Pavitt completed the podium places in third with Hussah T.M, while John Whitaker finished fourth aboard Hold on Tight II.
