Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Second Round at Wales and West Show

Wales & West, The David Broome Event Centre played host to the Welsh Home Pony 2014 last weekend and one of the key classes for competitors was the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Second Round that was held on Saturday 26th July 2014. A total of forty-four combinations started out.

With three direct qualifying tickets available for the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show, each starter was hoping to claim one of these tickets as their own.

The jump off was contested by three combinations and only one managed to secure that all-important treble clear.

The only treble clear of the day was delivered by 15 year-old Jared Lunn from Hawkwell, Essex on board his father Richard’s 10 year-old grey gelding, Ballybaloo. Last to go in the jump off and knowing that no-one else had jumped clear he knew that a safe clear round would allow him to take the win. This combination went on to secure their treble clear in 51.09 seconds..

Second went to Chloe Reynolds (16) from Chard, Somerset on Money Spider V, an 11 year-old appaloosa mare owned by Katie Pike. Chloe picked up 12 faults in the jump off in 41.54 seconds.

Third went to 16 year-old Georgia Cabb from Prestatyn, Clwyd on Sulan Hollywood Knight, a 10 year-old bay gelding owned by her mother Julie Cabb. They retired in the jump off but achieved their place in the top three after producing a double clear from the previous rounds.

The first three pony and rider combinations, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. The first five, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival. Ponies and riders that jump a treble clear also qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.
