South East Region British Showjumping’s Ball was a hit!

The South East region held their annual ball at the Holiday Inn in Brighton for the seventh consecutive year. Always a sell out event, Shaun Marsh and his team organised a wonderful evening with delicious food and great company.

Fiona Rafferty, Editor of Localrider Magazine said, ‘One of the best parts of the evening is meeting the winners of the Localrider-sponsored British Show jumping Regional Points League. There was a great mix of Champions this year but special mention must go to Suzanne Skillin, who partnered Chocadun to win the Senior 90cm and 80cm leagues’, she went on to say, ‘ Suzanne and Chocadun have headed the 80cm and 90cm leagues on various occasions since 2006 and each year Suzanne tells me it will be her last. Although she has officially announced her retirement, I somehow think that we will still be seeing Suzanne in action!’

Ten-year-old William Rekert headed the Junior 70cm league with Ballinasnow. Trained by Guy Williams, William has the ride on the JA Pony Wilbur for 2010 and Ballinasnow is now teaching Annie McGregor the ropes of the ring. William with his success and determination notched up an incredible 140 points. A feat that seems all the more amazing when one realises second placed Tammy Charlesworth notched up an impressive 34.

Winning the Junior 90cm League was a fitting end to James Cobb’s career with the 13.2hh Rosie White. Despite being sold last summer, James notched up so many points in the first half of the season that James and Rosie White won the league with twice the number of points of their nearest rival, Tom Pavey and Trepartridge Goa Supreme.

The Junior 1m Championship went to Anastasia Snook and Irish Fella who had a three point lead over 90cm Champion’s James Cobb and Rosie White. Anastasia is trained by her mother and has been riding the 19-year-old Irish Fella for the last three years.

Congratulations to all and here’s to a successful next season!
