Monday 26 February 2018

Arena UK in Grantham, Lincolnshire saw plenty of showjumping action last weekend as they played host to the penultimate Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifiers of 2018.

A strong field of horses and rider came forward with the aim of claiming one of the three qualifying places for the prestigious Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Championship, which will be held during the British Masters International Horse Show, at SouthView Equestrian Centre (29th June – 1st July 2018).

Saturday saw fifteen year-old Perdita Digby from Dorchester, Dorset gave the winning performance with Sophie Digby’s 13 year-old coloured mare Kayleighs Star. This pair delivered a hat-trick of clears as they battled against an initial starting field of thirty combinations before jumping to victory in the final jump-off. Perdita and Kayleighs Star produced one of just two treble clears as they crossed the finish line in a lightning fast 42.06 seconds.

On Sunday fourteen year-old Alice Weightman from Farnley Tyas, Huddersfield secured top spot on board Cindy VI, an 11 year-old bay mare owned by Clare Weightman. Against twenty-eight talented competitors, Alice and Cindy VI proved to be on consistent form throughout all three rounds as they stopped the clock in the three horse final jump-off in just 42.86 seconds.
