Millie Stennett from Suffolk Wins the November NAF Shining Star Award

Millie Stennett(10) from Suffolk has won the NAF Shining Star Award for November 2013. Millie is an active and committed member of the British Showjumping Suffolk Junior Academy.

Mia Korenika, Lead Coach for the British Showjumping Suffolk Junior Academy, nominated Millie for the NAF Shining Star Award.  Explaining why she felt Millie was a worthy candidate she said “Millie has been an active member of the Suffolk Academy from the very start and she is out competing at every possible opportunity.  When she is not competing she comes training; that's a very busy 10 year-old! Millie has the support of her family and her school all of whom are incredibly proud of her achievements.”

“2013 has seen Millie represent Suffolk at the inter academy teams competition, during which she came 4th in the final of the style and performance award. She has also had a place on the England Home Pony team in Cavan, Ireland, where she jumped a triple clear and helped the team to finish in third place. Thoroughly enjoying her jumping, she is a great ambassador for junior showjumping even at her young age. She has encouraged others to join the academy and is certainly a good reflection of the progressive training system that the NAF 5* awards provides and that the academy facilitates. She is definitely a shining star for the future of showjumping.

Millie has been a member of British Showjumping since 2012 and is relatively new to affiliated showjumping and the Junior Academy system.  With her commitment and talent, she started having success very quickly and has already completed her 1* and 2 * Pony Performance Award and is actively working towards attaining her 3*. She now enjoys competing on a number of different ponies.

Millie’s is focusing on her hopes to qualify her ponies for both the Springboard 128cms/138cms Restricted Handicap and the Graham Heath Construction (128/138cms) (Championship Handicap Qualifier).

Extremely happy to learn that she had won this month NAF Shining Star Award she said “I joined the Suffolk Junior Academy as it allowed me to get the training I wanted. I also want to thank everyone who has been helping and supporting me, especially Uncle Banks and Mia Korenika for nominating me, my Mum (Claire) and my ponies as well as the other Junior Academy members.”

Tracey Lloyd, Marketing Manager for NAF commented ‘A truly well-deserved award, congratulations Millie you are a great ambassador for your sport and are sure to continue with as much success given your dedicated training regime including the NAF 5* Awards.’

The NAF Shining Star Award was introduced when NAF became a British Showjumping Business Partner. The award is for members of a Junior Academy who have shown a great deal of commitment, progression and outstanding behaviour along with their riding ability and much more. Riders are nominated by their lead coach, and then judged and awarded by NAF to one person each month.
