Megan Cowan is Triumphant in the Dodson & Horrell 0.85m National Amateur Second Round at Rockrose Equestrian Sports Centre

Seventeen year-old Megan Cowan from Lanarkshire proudly showed off her first place rosette on Saturday after producing a winning round in the Dodson & Horrell 0.85m National Amateur Second Round at Rockrose Equestrian Sports Centre in Haddington, East Lothian.

An able and focused field of twenty-four combinations set their sights on the twelve qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will be held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between the 16th – 20th November. Twelve competitors were able to pull off a clear in the first round and the jump off was left to decide the all-important placings.

Riding Kellie Cowan’s 19 year-old bay gelding, Pieter, Megan demonstrated the pace and accuracy this partnership are capable of when they clinched first place. Racking up a double clear, they crossed the finish line in an unbeatable 34.15 seconds.

Second place went to Georgia Mitchell from Johnstone, Renfrewshire and she rode her 8 year-old bay mare, Diva V to a double clear from first draw in 35.58 seconds.

Aileen Jeffrey from Kinross scooped up third place on board her 12 year-old grey gelding, Desi I. This pair posted their double clear in 37.86 seconds.
