Last Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Regional Final at Field House Equestrian Centre

The last Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery regional final of 2013 was held at Field House Equestrian Centre in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire this weekend on Sunday 4th August 2013. A total of fifty-five starters came forward for their last chance to qualify for the Championship Final.

Of all the starters, twenty-two combinations made it through into the final jump off and eight combinations went on to produce the treble clear required to qualify for the Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held at the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival (25th – 31st August 2013).

Following a well fought jump off, the win in this regional final was taken by 46 year-old John Steels from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. John was on board his own 5 year-old bay gelding, True Blue III and the combination produced the only sub 41.00 seconds treble clear. The clock stopped on a time of 40.64 seconds.

Second place was taken by 31 year-old Rachel Steels from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire on Doriena, a 5 year-old bay mare owned by John Steels. Rachel and Doriena achieved their third clear in 41.73 seconds.

Third place was taken by 16 year-old Ellen Harris from Cheshire on board her own 8 year-old grey gelding, Buzz Lightyear V. This combination clocked a time of 41.97 seconds to secure a top three finish.

A further five riders also achieved a treble clear and a total of eight combinations qualified for the Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Championship Final.

NB: Qualifications will be updated pending grading of results, disregarding those already qualified.

The Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2013 will take place from the 25th – 31st August 2013 at Staffordshire County Showground.
