KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final at Kingswood Arena

The sixth of the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Finals took place on Saturday 9th June 2012 at Kingswood Arena in Albrighton, Wolverhampton. Following a competitive year of qualifying, the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final attracted entries from nearly 80 eligible horse and rider combinations, all hoping to claim their Championship Final qualification. 
 
Riders flocked from all over the country with the aim of qualifying for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012). From the total number of entries, 69 combinations started in the Regional Final and 26 combinations managed to gain two clear rounds to make it through to the final jump off. In the final jump off, all the remaining combinations were hoping to produce the crucial treble clear required to qualify for the Championship Final. 
 
An impressive 10 combinations went on to produce the required treble clear, securing their Final place for August. The overall winner of the Regional Final was Derek Morton from Stone, Staffordshire and he won the class aboard Diane Sowden’s 6-year-old mare, Lanita Beech. Derek and Lanita Beech were one of only two combinations to clear the jump off course in sub-41 seconds and Derek put in a time of 40.23 seconds to clinch the win.  
 
Second place went to 17-year-old Chloe Turnbull from Coventry, West Midlands. Chloe produced an immaculate treble clear on board her own 8-year-old mare, Carnaval China Doll. Chloe produced the second fastest treble clear of the day with a time of 40.51 seconds to secure her qualifying place for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
 
Third place went to Anthony French from Malpas, Cheshire and he secured his placing aboard Tom Hollins’ 5-year-old gelding, Contra B. Anthony and Contra B produced their treble clear in a time of 41.67 seconds to ensure that they finished a full two seconds ahead of the fourth placed combination. 
 
A further seven riders also went on to achieve their treble clear and subsequent Championship Final qualification.

The Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival 2012 will take place from the 26th August – 1st September 2012 at Staffordshire County Showground.
