JESSICA AND TIXYLIX IN FLYING FORM

Jessica Mendoza from Chippenham, Wiltshire and her chestnut mare Tixylix won the John Whitaker International Winter JA qualifier by a substantial margin at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in February. The flying pair jumped three clear rounds, the only combination to achieve this in this competition, to finish in 42.79 seconds in the third round. The winning combination had already qualified at the Hand Equestrian Centre on 23rd January so the first qualifier in this competition was second placed Laura Robinson from Northallerton, North Yorkshire riding Salvador IV with four faults in the final jump off finishing in 50.13 seconds. Second Laura Robinson and Salvador IV and third placed Harriet King and Frere Jacques had both previously qualified so, second qualifying place went to fifth placed Lauren Edwards from Stockport, Cheshire riding Floating Change finishing on four faults in the first jump off in 28.05 seconds and the third qualifying place was Yasmin Davis from Blandford Forum, Dorset riding Knockmartin Gold who also finished on four faults in the first jump off in 29.59 seconds.
