Jake Ward wins the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Hartpury University

Riders flocked to the Winter Classic Show at Hartpury University in Gloucestershire and Saturday’s SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier was won by Jake Ward from Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.
Forty-two started out over Krissy Spiller’s thirteen fence track and twenty-two made it through to a hotly contested jump off. With only two qualifying places on offer for the Championship Final at the Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead, West Sussex next summer, competition proved to be fierce.
Riding Comano Z, a 6 year-old grey gelding owned by Adam Botham, Jake produced two immaculate rounds to return home with a double clear in 32.52 seconds, a result which secures him a place in next year’s Championship Final.
Second place was taken by Michael Fursedonn from Brentwood, Essex and he was on board his own 5 year-old bay mare, Ilserov. They also finished up with a double clear and did so in 33.12 seconds.
