Jake Myers triumphs in The Stable Company HOYS 138cms Qualifier at SouthView Equestrian Centre

The glorious weather brought the pony riders out in force for The Stable Company HOYS 138cms Qualifier at the SouthView Equestrian Centre Pony Premier in Winsford, Cheshire with Jake Myers dominating the class to take top spot.

Each of the fifty riders were aiming to finish in the top three to ensure their place in The Stable Company HOYS 138cms Championship Final held at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show in October. The first two rounds asked some questions of both horse and rider, leaving just six talented combinations to contend for qualification in the final jump off.

Twelve year-old Jake Myers from South Brent, Devon led from the front with The Agent, a 24 year-old grey gelding owned by Joanna Myers. Drawn first to go, this pair set the pace as well as producing the only treble clear of the class to cross the finish line in 38.06 seconds.

Shaunie Greig, aged 14, from Dunfermline, Fife scooped second place on board Julie Greig’s 13 year-old bay mare, Buttons Two. This pair produced a lightning fast round but had a pole down at the start of the course which saw them finish with four faults in 36.15 seconds.

Sitting firmly in third place was 13 year-old Mya Roxburgh Caira from Kirkcaldy, Fife riding Paddys Pet II, a 13 year-old grey gelding owned by Niki Caira. This combination stopped the clock in 36.98 seconds with four faults after having an unfortunate fence.
