Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Second Round at the Scottish Summer Extravaganza Show
Thursday 24 July 2014
The Scottish Summer Extravaganza Show at the Royal Highland Showground also hosted a Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Second Round with this class being held on Sunday 20th July 2014.
Also up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show and all of the twenty-five competitors were aiming to take one of these tickets home.
The first round of this class ended up being the only round as competitor after competitor picked up faults as they made their way around the course. Just one combination managed to produce a first round clear and this meant that there was reason to jump off.
That sole clear was produced by 33 year-old Douglas Duffin from Dollar, Clackmannanshire and he was on board HI Midnight Millie, an 8 year-old bay mare owned by Shannon Kelly. This combination was eighteenth to go in the first round and they secured their clear in 75.83 seconds.
Pippa Allen (20) from Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland with Grenoble 46, an 8 year-old grey mare owned by her father Peter matched their second place from the previous day in EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round. The combination also took second in this class after registering the fastest four fault round. Their time of 69.35 seconds ensured that they secured that second qualifying spot.
The first two horse and rider combinations, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. The first five, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival. Horses and riders that jump a treble clear also qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.
