Helping secure the future for British Showjumping

Over the past eighteen months discussions have been taking place between the three equestrian Olympic Disciplines along with the BEF regarding office accommodation for the future.
 

The current building is no longer sufficient in terms of space for the three disciplines and the lease expires in five years with a break clause next year. After much discussion it was collectively confirmed that in order to carry out the functions of a National Governing Body what we required was a cost effective administration space which provided a good working environment for their employees. Ideally this building would be around 15,000 sq ft, be of a modern construction and have the ability to house the four individual organizations and be within a 10 – 12 mile radius of our current location.
 

Initial enquiries showed that there were only a few buildings that met those requirements and all of them had significant impacts on the level of rent compared to what we had been paying. It was then agreed that the most cost effective way forward would be for one or more of the disciplines to purchase a building and rent to the others in order to keep everyone under the one roof in addition to keeping the rental impact to a minimum.
 

Various buildings were looked at and Building 2020 Meriden was found to be the most suitable. British Showjumping successfully completed the purchase of the property and British Dressage will be joining us there when we move at the end of 2013.  
 

Whilst British Showjumping are disappointed that not all of the equestrian Olympic Disciplines will be located under the one roof we are pleased that our investment portfolio has been expanded to include a property which will provide first class office facilities whilst fixing the costs of accommodation for the future.
