Guy Williams wins Sunshine Tour Small Grand Prix

Saturday 18 March 2017

The Sunshine Tour taking place in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain saw almost eighty starters come forward to contest the 1.45m Small Grand Prix today; a Grand Prix which British rider Guy Williams claimed as his own with Casper de Muze.

The course was a tough one that asked lots of questions resulting in only fourteen combinations managing to jump clear in the first round and only eight of those managing to finish on a penalty free score.  Guy, who’s notorious as being an incredibly fast jump off rider, didn't disappoint with his clear in a time of 34.04 seconds.  His fast paced round proved enough to secure the title as his own with no other rider managing to break the 35 second barrier and catch him.

Billy Twomey (IRL) with Kimba Flamenco took 2nd place with his double clear in a time of 35.44 seconds whilst Katharina Offel (GER) took 3rd with Canturana.  Matt Sampson for GBR took 5th place with Ebolensky with a clear in 36.09 seconds, just slightly behind Vincent Voorn (NED) and Quinlan who took 4th place.  Other Brits in the top ten were Harriet Nuttall with Galway Bay Jed and Graham Gillespie with Laverin de Saar who took 8th and 9th place respectively.
