Guy Williams is on Top Form in Geneva
Tuesday 14 December 2010
Last week saw Canterbury, Kent based Guy Williams take a string of horses to Geneva, Switzerland for the CSI5*W International Show.
Guy kicked off his success at the show by coming third in the Credit Suisse Grand Prix with his own 14 year old bay gelding Torinto Van De Middelstede. This partnership, known for their speed and careful jumping, jumped the 1.55m course clear in a jump off time of 35.15 seconds winning them a share of the 76,600€ prize fund and beating world number one Kevin Staut.
Later on that day Guy went on to take first place in the 6 bar with Paul Gill’s 9 year old eye-catching grey mare Richi Rich III. This combination also went on to take joint first in the Puissance.
Titus, a 10 year old chestnut gelding also accompanied Guy to Geneva. Being a new partnership Guy didn’t want to push him too much, however they gelled straight away winning the 1.45m Accumulator and coming sixth in the 1.35m open jumping clear in a time of 52.59 seconds.
Guy started riding at the age of three and began his road to top class competition by riding ponies in gymkhanas and graduating to top level International teams. Guy has represented Great Britain on Nations Cup teams a total of 8 times.
