EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round at Dorset Showground

The fourth EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round took place this weekend (Sunday 10th June 2012) at Dorset Showground in Gillingham, Dorset and the class was well attended by a number of talented horse and rider combinations. 

 

The EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round at Dorset Showground attracted 36 starters and the combinations came from all over the country with the aim of qualifying for the EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Championship Final, which will be held at the Horse of the Year Show on Wednesday 3rd October 2012. 

 

Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Championship Final and from the total number of starters, two combinations went on to produce two clear rounds to make it through into the final jump off and they then both went on to achieve that vital treble clear needed to put them in with a chance of qualifying for the Championship Final.  

 

The winner of this second round was 33-year-old Helen Tredwell from Finmere, Buckinghamshire and she won the class on board Philip Tuckwell’s eight-year-old mare, Concordia II. The combination produced an immaculate treble clear in a time of only 44.20 seconds to clinch the class win and the first HOYS direct qualifying place.

 

Second place and the second HOYS direct qualifying place went to 48-year-old Jenny Cassan from Newbury, Berkshire. Jenny rode Andrew West’s seven-year-old gelding, Fuego II clear over the jump off course in a time of 44.62 seconds. 

 

Just missing out on the Horse of the Year Show qualifications were the combinations in third to fifth. All of these combinations secured their opportunity to compete at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012).

The Horse of the Year Show 2012 will take place from the 3rd – 7th October 2012 at the NEC in Birmingham. 

 

The Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival 2012 will take place from the 26th August – 1st September 2012 at Staffordshire County Showground.
