Emerging talent announced for the 2015/17 BEF Excel Programme

Wednesday 07 October 2015

The 2015/2017 intake for the British Equestrian Federation’s Excel Talent Programme sees athletes across the three Olympic (dressage, eventing and showjumping) and one Paralympic (para-equestrian dressage) disciplines accepted onto the two-year Programme.

With over a hundred applicants coming forward this year, sixty have been selected for Programme, including twelve who have been re-selected from last year’s squad.

David Hamer, Lead Coordinator for the Sport England funded Programme commented; “To keep Great Britain at the forefront of equestrian sport, we must continue to support and give opportunities for riders to develop the skills to be successful at international level.”

The Excel Programme, which is funded by Sport England, seeks to identify, support and develop riders and horses that demonstrate talent and potential in the Olympic and Paralympic equestrian disciplines. The Programme has been developed to extend the rider talent pathway below the UK Sport National Lottery funded World Class Programme and to help support riders to go on to achieve their potential.
