Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex

Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex in Rugby, Warwickshire was again the venue for two of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds. On this occasion, the second rounds were held at the following heights, 0.90cm and 1.10m. The two Second Rounds were held on Saturday 6th October 2012 and the classes attracted eligible horse and rider combinations from all over the country.
Following an initial season of first round competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012. All of the starting combinations were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Championships.
Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round.
This 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round proved popular, attracting 44 starters, all of whom had a Championship Final place in mind. From these starting combinations, a notable 21 made it through to the jump off and with only 12 qualifying places available, riders needed to achieve fast and clear round.
The top spot in this second round was taken by 23-year-old Kylie Bishop from Newark, Nottinghamshire and she won the class on board Skegbys Centy Point, a 12-year-old skewbald gelding, owned by Sharon Bishop. The combination rode a fast and accurate double clear to finish up on a time of 39.84 seconds to secure the win and a place in the Championship Final in November.
Second place was also taken by 23-year-old Kylie Bishop from Newark, Nottinghamshire, this time on board Demotoos Lady Pion, an eight-year-old grey mare, also owned by Sharon Bishop. The combination achieved their double clear in a time of 40.42 seconds to secure their place.
In third place was 24-year-old Stacey Moffitt from Kenilworth, Warwickshire and Stacey was on board Diamond Leap, her own 17-year old grey mare. The combination produced their second clear in a time of 40.98 seconds to ensure that they finished in the top three.
A further nine riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final as per the results below.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round.
This popular 1.10m National Amateur Second Round attracted 21 starting combinations and from these starters, seven eligible combinations made it through to the jump off and also the Championship Final.
The winner of this second round was 26-year-old Monica Ballard from Sittingborne, Kent and her win came on board her own eight-year-old chestnut mare, Miss Cartier. This combination produced one of three double clears produced in this class and Monica’s second clear was ridden in a time of 32.19 seconds.
In second place was 19-year-old Stephanie Gunn from Nottinghamshire and she produced her double clear on board Avatarr II, a 15-year-old bay gelding owned by Heather Gunn. The combination rode a good jump off round to finish in 34.70 seconds.
Third place was taken by 45-year-old John Steels from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire and he was placed on Charlotte Barry’s six-year-old bay mare, Bolerna. The combination navigated the seven fence jump off course in a time of 35.53 seconds to finish in third.
A further four riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final as per the results below.
