Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round at Little Kennerley Farm, Isle of Wight

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds continued at Little Kennerley Farm in Ventor on the Isle of Wight on Sunday 14th October 2012. The venue played host to a Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round.

Following a competitive season of first round competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012 and all of the starting combinations were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Championships.

The 1.00m National Amateur Second Round saw three starting combinations begin their qualifying campaign and with two eligible combinations finishing in contention, the times decided the places.

The top spot was taken by 41-year-old Sharon Waghorn from Ventor, Isle of Wight and Sharon rode an immaculate clear on board Harlequin II, an 11-year-old skewbald gelding, owned by Karen Begley. Sharon rode an accurate round in a time of 51.86 seconds to seal the win.

Sharon Waghorn had a successful run in this second round as she also took second place, this time on board 16-year-old Dutch Passion, also owned by Karen Begley. This combination produced their clear in a time of 55.49 seconds.
