Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round at Colraine Equestrian Centre

Colraine Equestrian Centre in Truro, Cornwall played host to two more of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds on Sunday 7th October 2012, this time at 0.90cm and 1.10m. Following months of competitive riding in the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur First Rounds, riders were competing in order to qualify for the Championship Final. 
  
All starters were hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012.
 
Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round. 
This second round saw three combinations start and from these, two combinations achieved the required first round clear. Both of these first round clears were ridden by 29-year-old Jon Paull from Newquay, Cornwall. 
 
Jon Paull filled the top spot on board Shady Bayou, a 14-year-old bay gelding owned by Andrew Pellowe. The combination cleared all 11 fences in the first round in a time of 76.12 seconds to seal the win. 
 
Jon Paull grabbed second place on board Asterix P, a seven- chestnut gelding owned by Piers Hays. Jon’s time of 81.28 seconds ensured that he also grabbed second place.

1st Jon Paull riding Shady Bayou – 0 – 76.12 seconds
2nd Jon Paull riding Asterix P – 0 – 81.28 seconds
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round. 
The 1.10m National Amateur Second Round attracted three eligible starting combinations and once again, two combinations made it through to the Championship Final after the jump off round.
 
The winner of this second round was 15-year-old Kayla Setford from Cornwall and she won the class on board Caia Balia RS, a five-year-old dark bay mare owned by Karen Setford. The combination cleared all six jump off fences in a time of 39.53 seconds to seal the win. 
 
Second place was secured by 27-year-old Elizabeth Robson from Launceston, Cornwall and she qualified for the Championship Final on board her own 10-year-old grey mare, Victoria B. This combination lowered the third pole in the jump off, but achieved an especially quick time of 30.89 seconds to finish in second.

1st Kayla Setford riding Caia Balia RS – 0/0 – 39.53 seconds
2nd Elizabeth Robson riding Victoria B – 0/4 – 30.89 seconds
 
The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur & Veteran Championships 2012 take place from the 15th November – 18th November 2012 at Aintree International Equestrian Centre.
