Dodson & Horrell 85cm and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds at the Ian Stark Equestrian Centre

Tuesday 25 September 2018

Persia Bhatia featured strongly in the final two Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds of the season at the Ian Stark Equestrian Centre in Selkirk, Scotland, to qualify for this year’s Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool on 13 – 18 November.

Dodson & Horrell 85cm National Amateur Second Round

Persia from Peebles, Peebleshire dominated the Dodson & Horrell 85cm National Amateur Second Round with the top two places on Molly XIII and Major Moonstone.

Seven from sixteen starters jumped round one clears to access the jump-off over course-designer Tracy Barraclough’s 10-fence track but none were a match for Persia and the Irish-bred 15-year-old Molly XIII, a partnership of four years.  The pair found every conceivable shortcut to break the 30 second barrier to win, and underscoring her domination, Persia brought second ride Major Moonstone into second, 1.83 seconds separating the two.

Alistair White from Falkirk, Stirlingshire claimed victory in the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round with Hanleen O Tess in a head-to-head with Persia aboard Molly XIII.

Just two of the six starters contended the jump-off with Alistair’s sensible, steady clear on the Hanleen O Tess – an Otis x Cruising 10-year-old competed for the past two and a half years – taking the win after Persia and Molly hit two early fences.
