Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round at Chard Equestrian

Chard Equestrian in Crewkerne, Somerset hosted a Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round yesterday (Sunday 28th September 2014). 

Each of the sixteen starters were hoping to claim on one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014. 

The jump off in this second round was contested by thirteen combinations and eleven double clears were eventually produced. With eleven double clears already in bag, the rest of the field were left competing for that last qualification place. 

Gemma Hallett, 24, from Wellington, Somerset with her own 13 year-old grey gelding Sparkling Indulgence, delivered the fastest double clear of the class to secure the top spot. The combination was drawn sixth to go in the jump off and after crossing the finish line in 33.62 seconds, they took victory with just 0.07 seconds in hand over second place.

Finishing in second was 42 year-old Jane Gregory from Crewkerne, Somerset on her own 16 year-old chestnut gelding Redlight. They produced their two immaculate rounds in 33.69 seconds. 

Third place was taken by 53 year-old Jancey Wembridge from Taunton, Somerset and she was on her own 19 year-old bay mare Who’s Dilemma. This combination took their place in the top three after delivering their double clear in 34.63 seconds.

A further nine riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Championship Final.
