Dodson & Horrell 0.95m and 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds at Port Royal Equestrian Centre

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at Port Royal Equestrian Centre in Holme on Spalding Moor, York pulled the talent in with thirty-seven combinations coming forward to compete across the 0.95m and 1.10m Second Rounds.

With qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 19th November, the aim for each rider, two fierce classes of competition ensued.

Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round

Continuing her winning streak from earlier this month in the 0.85m and 1.10m Second Rounds at Harrogate Riding Centre, Holly Gair from Chester Le Street, County Durham added another National Amateur qualification to her belt as she rode Stephen Gair’s 16 year-old grey mare, Usita Champ to victory. Showing her determination, Holly posted the fastest clear in the nine horse jump off crossing the finish line with a double clear in 39.68 seconds.

Holly then went on to claim second place on board Wendy Gair’s 20 year-old grey mare Bowes Milky Way. This partnership put forward as firm challenge as they stopped the clock in 42.60 seconds for a double clear.

Scooping up third place was Julia Hardy from Chesterfield, Derbyshire who posted a double clear in 43.21 seconds on Hey Boy, an 18 year-old bay gelding owned by Mark Bates.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round

In an initial starting line-up of eighteen, Holly Gair from Chester Le Street, County Durham took her place at the top of the leader board yet again. After tackling the technical course in round one, thirteen combination were left to fight it out in the jump off where Holly rode Stephen Gair’s 16 year-old grey mare, Usita Champ to a fast double clear in 39.05 second.

Amanda Routledge from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire claimed second place in fine style after posting a double clear on board her own 15 year-old bay mare, Caloundra Van De Koekoek.

Third place went to Sophie Cuthbert from Stockton-on-tees, Cleveland riding her own 14 year-old bay mare, Walty L. This pair deliver a double clear in 42.56 seconds.
