Dodson & Horrell 0.85m and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre

Summerhouse Equestrian Centre in Hardwicke, Gloucester held Dodson & Horrell 0.85m and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds on Sunday and the classes proved popular with sixty-one combinations starting out.

With qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 19th November, at the forefront of everyone’s minds, a competitive day unfolded.

Dodson & Horrell 0.85m National Amateur Second Round

Following a well fought first round, twenty-one talented pairings made it through to the jump off and it was 12 year-old Charlotte Bowman from Swansea, West Glamorgan who emerged victorious on board Mandy Bowman’s 9 year-old grey gelding Igo Diamond. Knowing that time would be of the essence, Charlotte put her foot down and steered her ride to a double clear in 33.56 seconds.

Second place was scooped up by Debbie Paget from Ledbury, Herefordshire and she took her podium spot on her own 9 year-old bay gelding Kilmastulla Amazon. They secured their double clear in 34.10 seconds.

Henrietta Witts from Worcester finished in third after securing her double clear in 34.96 seconds on board her own 12 year-old bay mare Pontesford Sarah Maria.

Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round

Tessa Elliott from Kilgetty, Dyfed headed this second round after delivering the only double clear of the class on her own 9 year-old chestnut gelding Quidam MZ. Riding with great accuracy, the combination flew through the finish in 43.28 seconds.

Morgan Enright from Bicester, Oxfordshire took second place on his own 12 year-old chestnut mare Tracey Z. The pair were unlucky to pick up 4 faults at the penultimate fence of the jump off but their time of 38.83 seconds was quick enough for a place in the top two.

Finishing in third place was Natasha Seely from Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire riding her own 12 year-old bay gelding Alpino R. Natasha and Alpino R finished on 4 faults in 39.80 seconds.
