Dodson & Horrell 0.85m and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds at Maelor Equestrian Centre

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at Maelor Equestrian Centre in  Hope, Wrexham drew thirty-three talented competitors to compete across the 0.85m and 1.05m Second Rounds.

With qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 19th November, every riders goal, two intense classes played out.

Dodson & Horrell 0.85m National Amateur Second Round

From a fourteen strong field in the jump off, it was Melissa Griffiths from Shrewsbury, Shropshire who took victory on board her own 15 year-old bay mare, Litton Letitia. Jumping a fast and accurate round this combination produced a truly unbeatable double clear in 24.59 seconds.

Coming home second was Katie Mcnamara who travelled from Penyffordd, Chester with her own 5 year-old grey gelding, T J Legend. This partnership were able to produce their double clear in 26.10 seconds.

Denise Parry from Wrexham in North Wales scooped third place riding her own 9 year-old black gelding, Bali Tiger. This pair crossed the finish line with a double clear in 26.16 seconds.

8th Gail Bunce & Artemis Bay – 0/0 – 31.22 seconds

Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round

The starting line-up was quickly whittled down to just five for the jump off, where tensions ran high. Holding her nerve to the final fence was Shropshire’s Emily Morris, who was able to steer her 7 year-old bay gelding, Scarthill Captain straight into the lead by posting a blistering double clear in 24.80 seconds.

Rebecca Norbury from Smallwood, Cheshire was able to put in a clean performance on board her 10 year-old bay gelding, Leonidas III. Posting a double clear, this partnership finished in 25.22 seconds.

Third place was snapped up by Ceri Williams from Welshpool, Powys and Ian Lovett’s 8 year-old bay mare, Cyloma Z. This pair crossed the finish line on a double clear in 26.72 seconds.
