Dodson & Horrell 0.85m and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds at Badgworth Arena

The last of this year’s Dodson & Horrell 0.85m and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds were held at Badgworth Arena in Axbridge, Somerset on Sunday and they drew thirty-four competitors from around the country.

With qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 19th November, at the forefront of everyone’s minds, two fiercely fought classes took place.

Dodson & Horrell 0.85m National Amateur Second Round

Twelve keen combinations posted a first round clear to take their place in the jump off, where the technical track lead to a nail biting finale. Phoebe Sealey from Burnham-On-Sea added another qualification to her belt following her success in the National Amateur 0.95m Second Round at Chard Equestrian earlier this month. She rode her 16 year-old piebald gelding Santox and the partnership produced the winning round in 43.09 seconds. 

Second place went to Laura Leigh from Wolverhampton riding her 21 year-old grey mare Swansong II. This combination eased across the finish line in 44.06 seconds.

Victoria Knight from Rooksbridge, Somerset slipped in to third place with her 14 year-old grey mare Charrat Z. This pair delivered the final double clear of the class in 52.60 seconds.

Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round

Delivering a scorching double clear, Hannah Burt from Trowbridge, Wiltshire jumped straight in to first place on board her 17 year-old bay mare, B Fancy. In a tense four horse jump off, Hannah proved to have nerves of steel as she rode a stylish and unbeatable round in 36.32 seconds.

Claiming second place was Pierre Baber from Bristol riding his 16 year-old bay gelding Ulysses W. This combination left all the fences standing for a double clear in 39.17 seconds.

Scooping third place was Lily Mason from Wareham, Dorset with her 12 year-old grey gelding, Accendo. Producing the final double clear of the class, this combination finished in 47.69 seconds.
