Dodson & Horrell 0.85m and 0.95m National Amateur Second Rounds at Brook Farm Training Centre

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at Brook Farm Training Centre in Romford, Essex proved popular with competitors as sixty-four combinations came forward to compete across the 0.85m and 0.95m Second Rounds.

With qualifying for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between the 14th – 19th November, a priority, each competitor was focused on taking one of the eight direct qualifying places on offer in each class.

Monica Ballard from Sittingbourne, Kent rode into first place on board her ever consistent 19 year-old bay mare, My Amazing Grace. This partnership produced a clear performance in the first round to secure their place in the jump off.  They crossed through the finish with an unbeatable clear round claiming their place at the top of the leader board in 30.51 seconds.

Second place went to Lorna Simpson from Colchester, Essex and she rode her own 9 year-old grey mare, Rubi VII. This pair took a strong line in the jump off to deliver a double clear in 32.06 seconds.  

Robert Crisp from Welwyn, Hertfordshire snapped up third place with his 8 year-old bay mare, April Love. This combination were also double clear in 33.40 seconds.

Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round

Continuing their good form and adding a second qualification place to her belt Monica Ballard from Sittingbourne, Kent claimed first place on board her 19 year-old bay mare, My Amazing Grace. The pressure of the ten horse jump off didn’t faze this pair as they produced yet another clear round to cross the finish line in 37.62 seconds.

Local rider Deborah Scott-Garrett made the short journey from Romford, Essex with her 7 year-old grey mare Cofie Z. This combination jumped two foot perfect rounds to stop the clock in 38.88 seconds.

Third place went to Megan Hammond from Woodbridge, Suffolk riding her own 11 year-old bay mare, Sarcos Girl. This pair posted a double clear in 39.73 seconds.
