Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Second Round at The Dorset Showground

This Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Second Round held at The Dorset Showground at Church Farm in West Stour, Dorset on Sunday 21st September 2014 attracted a total of ten starting combinations.

Each starter was aiming to collect one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014.

Eight combinations produced the first round clear required for a place in the jump off and six of these combinations then went on to secure a double clear, which meant that time was to be influential in deciding the order of the places.

This second round was dominated by 44 year-old Julie Milkins from Winscombe, Somerset as she went on to take first and second place. Julie’s victory came on board her own 17 year-old chestnut gelding Penywrolod Dawnridge Duke. Drawn as the last combination to go in the jump-off, Julie ensured that she produced a careful and fast double clear to cross the finish line in 40.23 seconds.

Julie secured second place on her own 16 year-old dark bay gelding Granita II after posting a quick and accurate round at the beginning of the jump off. This combination delivered their double clear in 40.92 seconds.

Third place went to 55 year-old Susan Mills from Beaminster, Dorset on her own 17 year-old brown gelding In A Trice. They produced their second foot perfect round in 43.92 seconds to secure their place in the top three.

An additional five riders also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Championship Final.
