Each of the starters that came forward to contest the classes were hoping to claim one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014.

Eighteen combinations came forward to contest this second round and eleven made it through into the final jump off.

Victory was taken by 18 year-old Sophie Corney from Scunthorpe, South Humberside with her own 18 year-old bay mare Ocean Breeze II. They were the only combination to break the 30.00 seconds barrier in the jump off. Drawn ninth to go in the jump off and seeing six other combinations jump a double clear, Sophie knew that a fast foot perfect round would put her in contention of the win. Their double clear in 29.22 seconds proved to be good enough to do that.

Second place went to Sara Bryant from Wetherby; West Yorkshire with her own 15 year-old grey mare College Diamond. They produced their double clear in 32.82 seconds.

Third place went to 13 year-old Chloe Howarth, from Scarboough, North Yorkshire partnering her mother Joanne’s 13 year-old grey gelding Upperten W. This combination crossed the finish line in 33.81 seconds to secure their place in the Championship Final.

Eight further combinations also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Championship Final.
