Claire Membury heads the Dodson & Horrell 0.95m and 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds at Gracelands Equestrian Centre

The last 0.95m and 1.10m Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds were held at Gracelands Equestrian Centre in Worcestershire and they pulled in fifty-one determined combinations.

With qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 19th November, the aim for each rider, two fierce classes of competition ensued.

Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round

Delivering a standout performance in the closely fought nine horse jump off, Claire Membury from Shrewsbury, Shropshire rode Jill Membury’s 22 year-old chestnut mare, Louna De Grossy straight to the top of the leader board. This partnership made light work of the newly shortened course to cross the finish line in an unbeatable 24.14 seconds.

Posting a strong double clear for second place was Donna Cope from Bedworth, Warwickshire riding her own 9 year-old skewbald mare, TGF Colour Confetti. This combination stopped the clock in 26.11 seconds.

Third place went to Charlotte Crocker who travelled from Reading, Berkshire with her own 9 year-old chestnut gelding, Ugo Blue. This pair posted a double clear in 26.42 seconds.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round

Proving to be a consistent winner, Claire Membury added another qualification to her belt, this time on board her own 12 year-old bay gelding Mini Business II. Taking on the technical jump off course, this combination lead the way with a lightning fast double clear in 24.09 seconds.

Mark Thompson from Findern, Derby claimed second place in fine style after posting a double clear on board Michelle Yates’ 10 year-old chestnut mare Hunky Dory III in 26.30 seconds. 

Third place went to Joanne Fennell from Birmingham riding her own 11 year-old bay mare Bantasia. This pair crossed the finish line with a double clear in 26.89 seconds.
