Christopher Smith claims victory in the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter Second Round at Arena UK

Arena UK saw competitors gather from up and down the country to contest the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter Second Round and it was Christopher Smith who produced an impressive treble clear to claim victory.

As we near the end of the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter Second Rounds, each of the eighty-one strong field of starters were eager to secure one of the two direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show in October. With Diane Boddy’s technical course asking some questions of both the horses and riders in the first two rounds, just eleven remained to go head to head in the final jump off against the clock.

Leading the field with three quick and clear rounds, Christopher Smith from Hyde, Cheshire jumped straight in to first place with Gillian Milner’s 8 year-old bay gelding, Elmo Hill. This combination saw off their challengers with a turn of speed as they wiped 1.21 seconds off the clock to cross the finish line in 31.14 seconds.

Securing second place was Helen Tredwell from Finmere, Buckinghamshire riding Funnycan, a 7 year-old bay mare owned by New Priory Stud. This pair give a consistent performance across the three rounds, stopping the clock in 32.35 seconds in the final jump off.

With the top two taking the direct qualifying tickets for the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter Championship Final, the combinations in third to fifth took home the chance to compete at the British Showjumping National Championships.
