Cheryl Healey Wins Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round at Tushingham Arena

Thirty combinations got their Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Championship qualification campaign underway on Saturday at Tushingham Arena in Whitchurch, Shropshire and it was Cheryl Healey & Anna Cl who proved to be worthy victors.
Each and every starter came forward on Saturday with the hope of claiming one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 18th – 22nd November 2015.
Following a competitive first round, spectators were treated to a twelve horse jump off and with seven horses going on to jump a double clear, all eyes were trained on the clock to see who had gained the fastest time.
Cheryl Healey from Shifnal, Shropshire took home the spoils with her own 14 year-old bay mare Anna CI after producing the winning round. Drawn eighth to go in the jump off, the combination produced their double clear in 36.85 seconds to give them nearly two seconds in hand.
Second place was taken by Ceri Chapman from Welshpool, Powys on her own 9 year-old bay mare Dellrose Rosie. A double clear from this pair in 38.93 seconds ensured that they had done enough for a place inside the top two.
Jenna Cairns from Macclesfield, Cheshire finished in third with her mother Louise’s 12 year-old grey mare Wonderful III after securing a double clear in 42.13 seconds.
Nine further riders also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Championship Final.
