Chepstow CSI2* - Day 5

15 year old Jodie Hall-McAteer, headed the Pony Grand Prix on board Sarah Mendoza’s 18 year-old chestnut mare Tixylix. With only four combinations through to the jump off , Jodie not only produced the only double clear but she did so in a super-fast time, coming in three seconds in front of the competition.

“She’s just amazing, as good as ever, although we save her for certain shows, this is only her fourth show this year,” said Jodie.

Jack Whitaker took second with Zodianne Van De Doevenbree, while Sandy McLean was third on Castlehill Clover and Antonia Platt riding Carnhill Luna came in fourth.

13 year old, Oliver Fletcher took the top spot in the Children-on-Horses Grand Prix, riding 9 year old Temple Rebus, who he only sat on for the first time last week. “He’s such a nice, fun horse and tries his heart out,” said Oliver.

Eleanor Hall-Mcateer took second in the five-horse jump-off, just a fraction behind oliver, on board Dazzle II. “I found her big at first, but I’ve got used her and my sister Jodie is definitely not having her back!” she said.

Lily Freeman-Attwood took third on Mark McCourt’s 15-year-old mare Banana D’Ive Z with Anneliese Aitken coming in fourth on board Ghana Bou.

Annabel Shields snatched the Five year-old Grand Prix in the final moments on Gerona VH, a Bacardi VDL chestnut mare bought in last year. They proved to be a second faster than Lauren Edwards, who took second place on Boston 11, a dark bay Pall Mall H gelding and third with the mare Expresso, another by Pall Mall H. Both these horses have gained valuable experience and victories in Mijas, Spain in March. Olivia Gent took fourth on Billy Rocks, all producing double clears.

Kallum Fletcher took the Silver Tour Grand Prix in the final draw on Kits Coty Stud’s 10 year-old grey gelding, Disco III. “He’s such a lovely horse, I so don’t want him to be sold, he’s so careful and we have so much trust,” said Kallum.

Callum Tusler took second with his opening round in the eight-horse decider on board the 7 year-old chestnut gelding, Harlequin Sonador.  Kathryn Ellison was third on Cherokee Bay with Nicola Frankland fourth on Idas.

Declan Irvine headed the concluding Gold Tour 1.30m Grand Prix with the sole double clear on a new ride of two weeks, Richard Duncan’s 8 year-old bay gelding, Mystic Independence.

Ben Raistrick posted the best time, but four faults marred his round on Dan Wright’s Top Lmit to drop them in to second place.  Louise Whitaker and Cleopatra VIII took third with Kathryn Ellison and Bayjing in fourth.
